With over 30 years of experience in the WASH Sector, Omar is currently holding the position of Senior Advisor, WASH in Emergency with UNICEF Programme Group and heading the WASH in Emergency and Fragile Contexts Unit within the WASH Section. He’s responsible for overseeing and coordinating UNICEF’s emergency preparedness and responses across the world among others covering a broad myriad of emergencies including conflict, natural disasters, public health emergencies and others. Omar held several other global, regional and country level positions with UNICEF and otherwise mostly in emergency contexts. Omar is an Egyptian national and obtained a Ph.D. degree in Engineering in 2003, a M.Sc. degree in Engineering in 1996 as well as a B.SC in Engineering in 1992 from Cairo University, Egypt.
