Country Director Kenya, Christian Aid
Janet Ngombalu is the Country Director of Christian Aid Kenya and a passionate advocate for social justice, poverty alleviation, and transformational leadership. With over 25 years of experience in international development, 15 of them in senior management, Janet has led groundbreaking work in climate justice, economic justice, inclusive markets, gender equality, health governance, and humanitarian response.
At Christian Aid Kenya, she spearheads strategic partnerships within the civil society space, driving systemic change that empowers communities and strengthens resilience. Her work connects grassroots voices with policy platforms, ensuring that development is not only inclusive but also transformative.
Beyond her organizational roles, Janet continues to influence development policy and practice at continental level. She serves as a Board Member at the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), where she chairs the Audit and Risk Committee, and is a member of the Expert Panel for the GIZ “Business Support Facility for Resilient Agricultural Value Chains,” which supports 15 African countries. She also contributes to education development as a Board of Management member and advisor for a local school in Kenya.
A values-driven mentor and thought leader, Janet is recognized for her commitment to empowering young professionals, particularly women, and advocating for dignity-led development. In recognition of her influence and impact, she was featured in CIO Views Magazine as one of Africa’s Top 10 Influential Women Leaders to Watch in 2025.
Janet holds a Master’s degree in Sociology (Entrepreneurship Development) from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development from Daystar University. Her legacy continues to be one of impact, integrity, and inspiration across Africa’s development landscape.
