Hajir Maalim serves as Norwegian Refugee Council’s Regional Director of East and Southern Africa. Hajir served in various field posts such as a Country Director in Somalia and Yemen and Head of programmes in East Africa, West Africa, and Middle East for over 14 years.  

With 20 years of experience as a humanitarian and development professional, Mr. Maalim has extensive programmatic and operational expertise in formulating, designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating emergency operations and development programs in complex and volatile humanitarian contexts.  

Mr. Maalim earned a Master of Science in civil engineering (Water & Environmental Management) from Loughborough University in the UK. He also holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Moi University Kenya.
