Hadiya Abdelrahman leads the Community Outreach Department at StARS. The department engages with refugee-led organizations for institutional and operational capacity sharing, knowledge production, and funding. This is facilitated through training and development of comprehensive services such as psychosocial, gender, education, legal, mental health programming, and Gender-Based Violence response at grassroots community-based organizations. Hadiya holds a Master of Science in Humanitarian Studies with a concentration in Human Rights from Fordham University. Her previous job was at the Ford Foundation in New York City on the Gender, Racial, and Ethnic Justice team, where she worked closely with grantee organizations focusing on immigration and prison reform. She has also worked at the International Rescue Committee as a Refugee Resettlement Case Manager and Gender Liaison, responsible for establishing gender mainstreaming practices within resettlement.
